現在、『TOKYO2020は、汚職と談合のイベントだった』という記憶の上書き、絶賛進行中です。

TOKYO2020(開催は2021年でしたが)には、感動的なシーンが沢山あったと思うのですが、私は、あまり思い出せてないです。

I think there were many inspiring scenes in TOKYO 2020 (although it was held in 2021), but I, for one, can't remember many of them.

まあ、個人的には『あのコロナ感染対策 ―― 'バブル方式'は、素晴しかった』と思います ―― エンジニアとしてですが。

Well, personally, I think "that corona infection countermeasure - the 'bubble method' - was brilliant" - as an engineer.

TOKYO2020は、その開始前の記憶も鮮烈です。

TOKYO 2020 is also vividly remembered before its start.

オリンピック開催に尽力した4人の方々が、オリンピック開催前に「全員消えた」という、アガサクリスティも真っ青なできごともありました。

There was even an Agatha Christie-esque incident in which the four people who had worked so hard to organize the Olympics "all disappeared" before the Olympics were even held.

なんか、TOKYO2020は、TOKYO2020のイベントそのものより、「ビフォア、アフターの方が記憶に残っている」という、非常に稀有なイベントだったなぁ、と思います。

I think TOKYO2020 was a very rare event, in which the "before and after" are more memorable than the TOKYO2020 event itself.

ちなみに、これは、私個人の感想です。

By the way, this is my personal opinion.

素晴しいシーンは確かにあったはずです。

There must have been some great scenes.

多くの日本人が感動したはずです。

Many Japanese must have been impressed.

ただ、"私"が忘れてしまっているだけです。

It's just that "I" have forgotten.

一方、"私"のような人は、決して少数ではない、とも思っています。

On the other hand, I believe that there are more than a few people like me.

まあ、そういう意味で、やっぱり、今回の汚職と談合は『罪深いことなのだろうな』と思うのですよ。

Well, in that sense, I still think that this corruption and collusion 'must be sinful'.

嫁さん:「そうだなぁ・・・『五輪バブル』かなぁ」

Wife: "Well...maybe the 'Olympics bubble'."

そういえば、嫁さんと次女は、五輪会場の受付のバイトで、小金を稼ぎまくっていました。

Come to think of it, my wife and my second daughter were making a small fortune working part-time as receptionists at the Olympic venues.
