In those days, I am thinking how to realize a mail and web server for the neighborhood association(NA).
20年前であれば、「サーバを立てる」というのは、結構なコストを時間と人材を必要としたものです。

しかし、最近は、月額数百円で借りられるクラウドサーバも登場してきています。

セキュリティなどの面倒ごとも、プロバイダに押しつけられます。

実際、私も月額500円のサーバで、自分のホームページを運用していますが、大変助かっています。

と、考え始めています(クラウドとは真逆の発想)。

町内会の運営程度であれば、十分いけそうな気がします。

嫁さんの実家や、我が家のセキュリティシステムでも、「ラズパイ」は、がんばってくれています。

これまで一度もシステムダウンしたことがありません。

昔、サーバと言えば、Sunだの、HPだの、数百万円の単位で購入していたものです。

しかし、「ラズパイ」は、5000円も出せば、Amazonで購入できます。
However, we can get a "Raspberry PI" by even 5000 yen from Amazon.com
そうなると、相対的に、私たちITエンンジニアの価値も、下ってきてしまっているかのような気がします。(実際、そうかも)
So I feel that that the values of our engineer might go down relatively.(That might be true)
しかし、やっていること(サーバ構築・管理)の内容は何も変わらず、それなりに難しく面倒です。
However, What we should do (server construction and management) is difficult and messy in their way.

IT機器の値段が安くなったのであれば、その分、IT機器も使いやすくなる ―― とならないところが、この世界の嫌らしさです。
