「ラクをしないと成果は出ない」という本を読んでいます。面白いです。

ここからは私の推測ですが、この本の表題「ラクをしないと成果は出ない」は、その本の内容をそのまま反映しているか、と問われれば、確かに反映しているとは思います。

しかし、ここでいうところの「ラク」と、私の考えている「停滞主義」の「ラク」は随分、乖離(かいり)があるなぁ、と感じます。

しかし、今日の話題は、書評ではなく、本の「タイトル」の方です。

私の寄稿コラムのタイトルに関して、私にはその決定権がないというお話は以前しました。

ですから、「タイトルに引かれて読んだら、面白くなかった」という、私を二重に傷つけるツイッターのコメントを読むと、

―― タイトルは、私の責任ではないぞ！

と、言いたくなることがあります。

「どうせ傷付けられるのなら、自分でタイトル決めたい」

と思い、最近では、タイトルの提案もさせて貰っています。

「ラクをしないと成果は出ない」というタイトルは、確かに上手いです。

著作者と編集者の苦労の後が見て取れます。

「この本を買ってみようか」と思わせるような表題を「キャッチー」のあるタイトルと言うそうです(編集担当者の方から教えて貰いました)。

最近、こういうタイトル、多いなぁと思い、ちょっと調べてみました。

■ライトノベル、コミック系

「やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている」

「私がモテないのはどう考えてもお前らが悪い」

「俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない。」(句読点「。」つき)

■長い題目という観点では、

「マンションは何千万円もして人生最大の買い物なのに高いか、安いかわからないしどうやって選んだらよいかわからない人が読む本」

「アイルランドにおける貧民の子女が、その両親ならびに国家にとっての重荷となることを防止し、かつ社会に対して有用ならしめんとする方法についての私案」

などなど。

私の寄稿コラムの場合、

当初の提案が「TPPにおける知財への影響への懸念」という感じだったのですが、

これが、編集担当者さんの手を通ると、

■「米国ルールを強制適用、農業より深刻…TPPで知財分野が大混乱？ ディズニーは法律まで変える!?TPPでヤバい知財分野」となっているところを見て、

―― プロっていうのは、こういうことなのだなぁ。

と、しみじみと思ったものです。

『府内の高校生に、「昆虫に素手で触れることができるか」を聞いたところ、「できる」と回答した生徒が４割にとどまり、約２５年前の７割から大幅に減ったことが分かった。』

A newspaper told that only 40% of high school students in Osaka cannot touch with insects with bare hand, and it becomes reducing from 70% in 25 year ago.

というニュースがありました。

『都市化で幼少期に昆虫に触れる機会が減ったことを背景に、虫に嫌悪感を抱く子どもが多くなったと研究会は分析』

The workshop analyzed that the population of children who become to hate insects are increasing because of the luck of change to touch with insect in the urbanization.

これは、正しい分析だと思います。

I think the analysis is right.

私は、「風の谷のナウシカ」を始めて見た時

When I watched the movie "Nautica in wind village" for the first time, I thought

―― こんな娘を恋人にするのだけは嫌だな

"I don't like to do with such a girl."

と思いました。

虫(蟲)と心を通わせる少女と共に日常を生きるのは、正直遠慮したいと思いました。

To be honestly, I want to hesitate to life my life with the girl who can communicate with the monster insects.

もうこれ以上はダメだ ―― と、先日会社の診療所にいったら、サクッと、この「セルシン」を処方して貰えました。

After I thought I could do nothing, I went to a clinic of my company and the doctor prescribed the drag "Cercine" for me.

これが、凄くてですね、朝方、セルシンを一錠飲み込んで、布団の上に倒れこんでいるいると、ホワイトボードが頭の中から消えていくんです。

This drag is greater than I have expected. After taking an ace, the white board becomes to disappear in my head lying asleep.

ホワイトボードがなくなって、ホッとしているところで、目覚まし時計のアラームに起こされる、ということができます。

After I feel relieved to confirm the white board was leaving, I can wake up by an alarm clock.

十分な睡眠ではないかもしれませんが、鉛のような体を引きづって歩いていた日々を考えると、

According to the day I have to move my body such as lead, even if the sleep might not be enough for me,

そりゃもう

Sure,

『毎日がエブリディ』(著名な元野球選手のお言葉)

"Everyday is everyday" (It is a proverb of a famous former baseball player)

ですよ。

まあ、何が言いたいかと言いますと、

What I really want to say,

『自分で頑張るのも、ほどほどにしておかなければ』ということですね。

"Everything I am going to do should be a halfway solution."

不眠やうつ状態が、続くのであれば、精神科でも心療内科でも、とっとと行っちゃおう、ということです。

If sleeplessness and a depressed mental state continue, we should go to psychiatry or psychosomatic medicine as soon as possible.

今の私は、安定剤の耐性がついて、効果が失われてしまうことが一番怖いのですが、まあ、『その時は、その時考えよう』と思います。

Now I really scared to get the tolerance of the stabiliser and lose the effect of the drag. But I think it again when the problem is going to happen.

「鉛の体」は、本当に重いのです。

Anyway the body such as a lead is really heavy.

私が、誤作動で壊してしまったパソコンをリストアできるように、壊れてしまった心や体を、直せる人も沢山いるのですから。

Some persons can cure broken mind and body, like I can restore the PC which I broke by my malfunction.

先日、次女から教えて貰ったのですが、スマホからだと、私のホームページの文字が化けるという現象があったそうです。

The other day, my junior daughter told me that garbled characters are displayed on my HomePage from her smart-phone.

これは、アルファベット以外の文字を使う国共通の悩みで、当然、我が国で使われている日本語もこれに該当します。

This is a typical problem in the countries that don't use characters except for alphabet. Japan also has had same problem since computers appeared.

コンピュータは、その誕生時において、言語は勿論、文字という概念すらありませんでした。

First of all, computers had no concept of characters, not to say languages when they appeared.

アルファベットは、コンピュータに命令コマンドを送り込むだけの記号の組み合わせにすぎなかったのです。

For computers, alphabet is just parts to make operation commands for computers.

ですから、コンピュータはアルファベットと数字を扱えればよく、そして、アルファベッドを扱えない人は、コンピュータを扱えない人 ―― それで良かったのです。

Therefore, there was no problem that computers could understand just alphabet and numbers, and people who didn't use alphabet usually, could not use computers.

それだけで、不当に尊敬される ―― そんな、本当に良い時代でした(遠い目)

勿論、愉快ではありませんが、

とは思っています。

今の、この私に、正面向って警告できる人間を思い受かべてみたのですが ―― もう部長クラスでも無理なんじゃないかな ―― とすら思います。

I tried to come to think that who can warn me in the front of my face, I am afraid that "It seems impossible for the director class anymore".

それでも、次女は、

Still, the second daughter said,

『電車で通学していると、想像を絶するくらい臭いオッサンがいる。パパが、いかに『マシ』であるかは、よく分っている』

"When I go to school by train, there is a unimaginable stink old man. I know well how you are better"

との、コメントを残しています。

さて、以前も申し上げましたが、

I wrote it before,

―― そもそも人間は、40～50歳以上の生存することを前提として、製造されていない

です。

人間の平均寿命は200年前では40歳でした(200万年前ではなく、200年です)。

Human life expectancy was 40 years old 200 years ago (not 200 million years ago, 200 years).

それ以上の年齢で、私達が生きていられるのは、病原体の撲滅や、(以前は治療法0だった)ウイルス性の病気(インフルエンザ)などへの特効薬の開発、など、高度な医療の発達に因るためです。

The reason why we can live with the age older, is "due to advanced medical development" like, eradication of pathogens, and development of silver bullets to viral diseases (influenza) etc. (previously there is no method).

40歳以上の人間が生きていることは、

Why human beings over the age of 40 are alive, is

腐敗が完了していて良いはずの肉体に、強制的に体液(血液とかリンパ液とか)を循環させることで、その腐敗の進行を遅らせている ――

"To our body that should be corrupted soon, the forcibly circulating bodily fluid (blood or lymph) make it slow the progress of corruption."

という解釈が正しい。

This is the correct answer.

ですから、年齢を経て発生する臭いは、「加齢臭」ではなく「腐敗臭」といっても良いものです。

So, the smell that occurs after the over 40 years should be called "rotten smell", rather than "age-old smell".

私は、スマートフォンのデザインは、小型の情報端末としては正しいと思うのですが、電話の形状としては間違っていると思うのです。

I think that a design of smartphone is correct as a small information device, but wrong as a telephone device.

―― 平板を耳に張りつけて会話をするなんて、気持ち悪い

"I feel bad to attach my ear to a plate"

という愚痴を長女にしていたら、

I complained to my senior daughter about that, and she asked me,

「パパって、それって、『ウケ狙い』でいっているの？」

"You said it for the sake of a laugh ?"

と尋ねられました。

So I said to her,

「違う。私は、心底から、頭を板に張つけてしゃべるというスタイルが嫌いなんだ」

"No. I just hate the style to attach my ear to a plate at the bottom of my heart"

と語ったところ、

she replied

「ふーん」

"U-h"

と言いながら、自分の部屋に消えていきました。

and disappeared to her room.

本当に、今、本当に、唐突に、思い出したのですが ――

Really, now, really, I remembered an old story suddenly.

学生の頃、私は、女性と上手く会話が弾まないことに悩んでいました(会話できない訳ではない)。

When I was a student, I was troubled not having a good conversation with women (not impossible to talk)

江端:「ダメだなぁ。このままでは一生独身だよなぁ」

Ebata:"I'm not good. I'm just single life for this."

と、後輩の女の子に愚痴っていたら、

When I complained to a girl of the junior,

女の子:「大丈夫！ いざとなったら、私が江端さんと結婚してあげるから!」

Girl: "Don't worry! I will marry you Ebata-san when it happens!"

と元気づけれくれました。

She cheered me.

江端:「うん、ありがとう。気持ちだけでも、とても嬉しいよ」

Ebata: "Thanks a lot. I'm very happy even if your words are alone"

と、私は応えました。

I answered.

で、今、少し考えているのですが、

Well, I'm thinking a little now.

―― あれ？ あれって、もしかしたら『フラグ』だった？

"Well,was that a "flag" by some chance?"

30年を軽く経過した今になって、思い至った私でした。

It's been 30 years lightly passed, and I noticed that.

昨日、都知事選挙の期日前投票に行ってきました。

Yesterday, I went to vote in the Tokyo gubernatorial election before the deadline.

終了(17:00)の30分前にいったので、投票所は、結構混雑していました。

I got to the polling station 30 minutes before the end (5:00 p.m.), so it was pretty crowded.

感染リスクの観点から言えば、良くない行動だったかな、と思います。

From an infection risk perspective, it was a bad activity, I guess.

さて、選挙については、すでに何度も述べているように、

■今回も、"数値"で語る候補者はいなかった

予算と人数を叫ぶだけの候補者はいたが、その「効果」をスペックアウトした候補者は一人もいませんでした。

There were candidates who only screamed about budget and number of people, but none of them had spec-out their "effects."

- これだけの予算を投入すれば、感染率をこの程度に維持できる

"Effect of infection rate control on budget input"

とか、

- これだけの補助金を投入すれば、廃業をこれだけのパーセント落せる

"Effect of business closure on the input of subsidies"

とか、

or

- で、これらの予算と補助金は、ここ(国家予算、税金等)からぶんどってくる

"Source of these budgets and subsidies (national budget, taxes, etc.)"

とか、

そういう話は一切なかったですね。

After all, I could not hear the above stroies.

で、まあ、そういう話がないのは、ある意味、当然と言えます。

Well, in a sense, "no story" is natural. Because they know

―― ちゃんと計算すれば(たぶん計算するまでもなく)、投資に見合う効果が得られない

"If they calculate properly (maybe even without calculation), people will not get the effect corresponding to the investment"

ことが分かっているからです。

あるいは、「当選したら、後のことは後でなんとかなる」と思っているのかもしれません。

Or maybe they think, "If I win, the rest will be done later."

とりあえず、「具体的な数値を口にすること」は、立候補者にとっては、禁忌中の禁忌です。

For the time being, “to speak concrete numbers” is the biggest contraindication for candidates.

となれば、私のようなシニアにとって、選ぶべきポイントは、「面倒なことは考えたくない」「何か新しいことに賭けたくない」です。

Then, for seniors like me, the points to choose are "I don't want to think about troublesome things" and "I don't want to bet on something new."

これは、以前、「地球温暖化対策の本質は、"面倒くさい"を回避することにある」と書いた通りです。

This is as I wrote before, "the essence of global warming countermeasures is to avoid "troublesome"."

そして、もっとも重要なポイントは、「未来の日本や若者がどうなろうが、私の知ったことか」です。

And the most important point is "I don't care of future Japan and young people at all"

この国とこの国の若者のリソースを喰い尽して、自分の老後を担保する ―― 私の関心はこの一点のみです。

Securing my old age by exhausting the resources of this country and the youth of this country-this is my only concern.

という訳で ―― 雨も降っていることですし、感染リスクも怖いですよね。

So, it's raining and the risk of infection is scary.

政治に興味のない方、特に、若い世代の方は、今日も"Stay Home"で、投票はボイコットしましょう。

If you're not interested in politics, especially the younger generation, don't go to vote and "Stay Home", today.

この度、ワイヤレスイヤホンというものを、初めて購入しました。

This is the first time I've purchased wireless earphones. I've been using them for a while now.

骨伝導型というもので、耳を塞ぎません。

It's called a bone conduction type, and it doesn't block your ears.

音質はそれほど良くないのですが、私は、本やタブレットを読みながら、町の中をウォーキングをするので、耳が聞こえるのは大きなメリットです。

The sound quality is not that great, but I often walk in town while reading books or tablets, so being able to hear is a big advantage.

私のタブレットには、格安SIM(500円/月)を仕込んであります。

My tablet has had a cheap SIM (500 yen/month).

Amazon Primeで映画を見るには、通信容量が貧弱ですが、音声だけなら十分です。

The communication capacity is poor for watching movies on Amazon Prime, but it is sufficient for audio only.

あと、タブレットを、カーナビとして使う分にも問題ありませんので、実家での車の移動で活躍しています。

Also, I have no problem using the tablet as a car navigation system, which is why I use it when I drive around my parents' house.

Amazon Primeのメニューに「美少年探偵団」というアニメがありましたが、タイトルを見ただけでした。

There was an anime called "Bishonen Tanteidan(Beautiful Boy Detective Agency)" in the Amazon Prime menu, but I only saw the title.

ところが、西尾維新先生の著作であることを知るや否や、私はいきなり方針転換して、Amazon Primeで"一気見" ―― ならぬ、"一気聞き"をしてしまいました。

However, as soon as I found out that it was written by Ishin Nishio, I suddenly changed my mind and watched it in one sitting - or rather, listened to it in one sitting - on Amazon Prime.

いわゆる、西尾作品は、 ―― もちろん映像とともに見るのが一番良いのですが ―― ストリーそのものが十分に面白いので、音声だけでも十分に楽しめます。

The so-called Nishio's works are best viewed together with the images, of course, but the audio alone is enjoyable enough.

音声モードにしたタブレットをリュックに放り込んで、骨伝導イヤホンで音声を聞きながらのウォーキングは、安全でストレスのない、運動不足解消に資してくれています。

Walking with my tablet in audio mode thrown in my backpack and listening to the audio through my bone conduction earphones is safe, stress-free, and helps me get my exercise.

「音声だけで映像コンテンツを楽しめる人間」というのは、どれくらいあるのかな、と考えています。

I wonder how many people can enjoy video content with only audio.

NHKスペシャルの「音声のみ無料公開」というサービスの余地がないか、NHKさんには、ご検討頂ければ、と、かなり真剣に願っております。

I sincerely hope that NHK will consider offering the NHK Special as a "free audio-only" service.

「ようこそ実力主義の教室へ」というアニメの第2期が始まっているようです。

It seems that the second season of the anime "Welcome to the Meritocracy Classroom" has started.

「ようこそ縁故主義の教室へ」―― 族長が率いる一族のクラス。始終他のクラスと抗争していそう。

"Welcome to the Edenic Classroom" families led by a chief, seems to be in constant conflict with other classes.

「ようこそ血縁主義の教室へ」―― 全員親戚のクラス。気が滅入る。

"Welcome to the kinship classroom", all classes of relatives. Depressing.

「ようこそカルト主義の教室へ」―― 全員が目がすわっている狂信者のクラス。怖い。

"Welcome to the Cultism Classroom" fanatics who all have crazy eyes. Scary.

「ようこそ人格主義の教室へ」―― 全員が人格者のクラス。息苦しそう。

"Welcome to the personalism classroom", everyone is a person of integrity. It's suffocating.

と考えると、

Coming to think of it, we could agree that

「ようこそ偏差値至上主義の教室へ」という学習塾が、いかに健全であるかが良く分かります。

"Welcome to the classroom of deviation supremacy", like prep schools are wholesomeness.

2023年3月27日、文化庁が京都府に移転されました。

On March 27, 2023, the Agency for Cultural Affairs was relocated to Kyoto Prefecture.

行政機能の分散は、長所と短所があると思いますが、短所の方は、リモートワークによって、相当に軽減されているんだろう ―― と思っていました。

I think the decentralization of administrative functions has its advantages and disadvantages, but I felt that the penalties were -- and are -- considerably mitigated by remote work.

ところが、文化庁の職員が東京に出張する回数を見て、愕然としました。

However, I was astonished to see the number of times the Agency for Cultural Affairs staff traveled to Tokyo.

―― 1ヶ月間で、合計1000回超え

"Over 1,000 times in total in one month"

一体、何やってんだ？ と思っていたら、どうやら、『リモートミーティングを忌避する政治家による命令』である、と分かりました。

What in the world is going on? I wondered, but it turned out that it was apparently "an order by a politician who hates remote meetings.

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I am thinking of requesting the following

―― 京都にいる職員を呼びつける政治家の名前と、その呼びつけた回数、(可能であれば「呼びつけた理由」も)

'The name of the politician who calls up staff in Kyoto, the number of times he/she has called them up, (and if possible, the "reason for calling them up").'

を請求してみようと考えています。

私は本気です ―― 本気で怒っています。

I am serious -- furious.

NHKニュースを見ると、毎日、首相以下、関係者ががん首揃えて、でっかい会議室に集って会議をしている様子が放映されています。

Every day, NHK news shows the prime minister and other officials gathered in a large conference room for meetings.

この「がん首会議」の1時間のコストは、最低限で見積って、

Let me estimate the cost of one hour of this "meeting" at a minimum,

■首相、大臣級であれば、50万円/時間

- 500,000 yen/hour for Prime Minister and Minister level

■事務次官レベルであれば、30万円/時間

- 300,000 yen/hour for the Administrative Vice-Minister level

■事務方で、20万円/時間

- 200,000 yen/hour for Administrative staff,

■そこに、資料作成をするコスト、会議室のレンタル費用、その他の作業コストを含めて、100～200万円程度、

- About 1 to 2 million yen for preparing materials, conference room rental, and other work costs

合計、ざっくり700万円/時。

Total, roughly 7 million yen/hour.

2時間の会議で1400万円くらいでしょうか。

It would be about 14 million yen for a two-hour meeting.

(これは、主任研究員である私ですら、ざっくり10万円/時 と値付けされているところから、推定したものです(*))。

(This is an estimate based on the fact that even I, as a senior researcher, am priced at roughly 100,000 yen/hour (*).

(*)これは手取り(給与)ではなくて、経費(コスト)の話です。

(*) This is not about salary but about expenses (costs).

もちろん、『Face to Face(F2F)がどうしても必要』という会議はあります。

Of course, there are meetings where 'Face to Face (F2F) is desperately needed.

私の場合、ホワイトボードに自由に書き込みができない会議は、確かにフラストレーションを感じます。

In my case, I certainly find meetings where I cannot write freely on the whiteboard frustrating.

特に、技術仕様の詳細打ち合わせのリモート会議は、正直辛いです。

In particular, remote meetings for detailed discussions of technical specifications are honestly painful.

それ故、NHKのニュースで放映される、これらの会議が『そのコストに見当っているかのどうかの検証』は、しなければならないでしょう。

Hence, the "verification of whether or not these meetings, which are aired on NHK news, are worth the cost" must be done.

京都の職員を、東京に呼びつける政治家に関しては、『本当に京都から呼びつける必要のある内容であったのか』について、国民に開示されて、精査され、きちんと検証される必要があります。

As for politicians who call Kyoto officials to Tokyo, the question of whether it was necessary to call them from Kyoto must be disclosed to the public, scrutinized, and properly verified.

もし、『リモート会議が苦手だの、嫌いだの、真意が伝わらない』などという、政治家自身の無勉強、無努力、あるいは、リモートコミュニケーションで自分の意図が伝えることのできないほどの無能であるというのであれば ――

If the politician says, "I am not good at remote meetings, I don't like them, I can't get my true intentions across,' and they are uninformed, uneffortful, or so incompetent that they can't communicate their intentions through remote communication,

我が国に、そんな政治家は、要りません。

We do not need such politicians in our country.
