我が国では、エレベータのコンソール付近にいる人が、「開」ボタンを押し続けて、ドアが閉ってしまうのを止めていることが多いようです。
「美しい日本人の風習」とも見えます。
特に、大切なお客様をご案内中である場合は、礼儀としての所作に適っていると思います。

でも、エレベータのドアには、閉じるのを防止する為の光センサが具備されています。
仮りに閉まりかけた場合でも、足などが接触センサに触れることで、ドアが閉まるのを防止してくれます。
従って、「開」ボタンを押し続けて、出入口に滞っていることは殆ど意味がありません。
それどころか、肥満の度合いが強い人が、かかる「善意」を行なって頂くと、通路が狭くなりエレベータから降り難くなり、はっきり申し上げて、
大変迷惑
なのです。

私は、「誰にでも比較的率直な意見を言う方だ」と言われているようです。
しかし、そんな私でも、

○しかも、それが、上記に該当する女性などである場合などは、特に、
上記の様な「知見」をお伝え申し上げることは、大変に憚られるのです。
私の家族は、私の仕事の内容を他人に説明することができませんので、それはもう諦めているようです。
まあ、無理ないとは思うのです。
「何をする人」と問われても、大体半年単位でやることが変わっていて、その内容は「なんでも屋」「便利屋」あたりが妥当だと思うのです。

世界中の市場の動向が必要と言われれば、それらしい調査報告も書くし、自分ですら信じていない未来の分析もする。
必要ならそれらの翻訳もやります。
共通していることは「仕事が形として表われてこない」ということです。

そんな中、知財部から送られてくる、米国の特許証は、家族に主張できる数すくない「形となって表われる仕事」の一つです。
米国は、最近になって、やっと先発明主義から先願主義に変わったといいますが、あの国は、基本的に「発明者」に対して敬意を払う国です。
ですので、特許権者(例えば私の会社)ではなく、筆頭発明者(私)の私に、特許証という名の「冊子」を作って贈ってくれます。米国はいい国です。
私は、この特許証を、深夜、さりげなくリビングのテーブルに置いておきます。
翌日、家族がそれを見ます。
特許証の中に、英語で記載された自分の父親の名前と、30ページにも及ぶ英文と図面が記載されている。
家族は、なんか父親が凄い仕事をしているような「錯覚」をする ―― か、どうかは分かりませんが、
少くとも、父親自身は、そのように「思い込む」ことでで、「父親自身を自分を幸せにすること」はできるのです。

私は、これまで表立って、会社と事を構えたことはありません(多分)。
ストライキを呼びかけたこともないし、給料のベアアップを要求したこともありません。
不当な命令(英語使えないのに、国際会議でホスト役をやらされたこと等)にも、泣きながら対応してきました。
明かに間違っていると思われる会社の各種制度にも、異議を申し立てるころなく諄々と従ってきました(必要な時は、幾つか潰したかもしれませんが、覚えていません)
私は、「会社の歯車」であることを自覚しているからです。

最近、私の会社では、この「特許証」を筆頭発明者に配布するのを止めよう、という動きがあるそうです。
処理が煩雑だ、とのことで。
うむ、それは仕方がないことかもしれない。

例外的、または個人的に、私だけにこっそり配布してくれれば、全く問題ありません。
