現在執筆中の報告書の話に戻ります。

I want to go back to the report that I am writing now.

現在の研究では、各種の解析手法を試みており、その概要説明の章を設ける予定です。

I am trying several analysis methods in the study at present, so I am going to make one chapter for the introduction.

その一つとして、ある推論手法があるのですが、その説明に、 この図を使って良いものか否かについて迷っています。

According to one of the methods, I wonder if I use this picture for the introduction.

これを使えば、一発で、その手法を理解して貰えるとは思うのですが、今度は部長がふっ飛んでくるだけではすまないかもしれないです。

Though everybody can understand the method easily only to watch this picture, I am afraid that I will never get away with being scolded by my manager,

まあ、サラリーマンですから、ここは「冒険しない」が正解でしょう。

I am just a business person, so I should not run a risk.

Apart from the above,

しかし、報告書というものは、読み手に理解させてナンボだと思うのです。

the significance of reports is to make readers understand well.

そこに、モラルやら品位やらが入り込み、表現の制約が入ると、いきなり読み難くなるような気がするんです。

In my opinion, it becomes to be hard to read reports that include moral, dignity, and quality.

私、新人教育のころ、「報告書を4コマ漫画で提出できますか」という質問を真面目にしたことがあります。

When I was a new face, I asked an adviser whether I can submit a report as four-frame cartoon seriously.

あの「困惑した講師の顔」は、今でも良く覚えています。

I remember the puzzled adviser’s face very well.
