先日、土曜日の日、真夏の炎天下の中、長女の大学のオープンキャンパスの見学に付き合わされたお話をしました。

I told that last Saturday, I was dealt with my daughter’s tour of college open campus under the blazing sun.

私達は、体験講座の受講などは全部取り止めて(どうせ眠くなるに決まっている)、それぞれの学部の学生が応じてくれる、個人相談のブースだけ行くことに決めました。

We avoided the trial lectures for high school students, and decided to go a booth for individual interview, whose interviewer was college students.

I have known that

―― その学部の学生と話をするのが、てっとり早い

It is easy to talk an active student to understand the background of the department.

という、私の体験によるものです。

私は娘(長女)に、3つの質問に絞って質問するように指示をして、面談中はずっと長女の横で黙って座っていました。

I asked my senior daughter to call for the answer for the following three questions.

(1)この大学の学部に入るには、今、どんな(受験)勉強をすべきか

(1)What kind of study is going to be needed to enter the college department?

(2)この大学の学部では、どんな勉強をするのか

(2)What kind of study you are doing now?

(3)この大学の学部を卒業した後には、どのような道があるのか

(3)What kind of job after graduation?

今回は、法学部と商学部に絞って面談をお願いしました。

We chose both law faculty and commerce only.

法学部の学生は、娘好み(？) のやせ型のイケメンニーチャンで、リーガルマインドで論理的に展開する論旨は、弁舌爽やかで、娘を魅了したようです。

The student of law faculty was spare figure and handsome man after her mind. He told her some stories with legal mind logically and slickly.

商学部の学生は、なんとなくポヤーンとした若いネーチャンで、しゃべっている内容も断片的で、「こりゃ、外した」と思って、目を瞑りながら「一眠りするか」と思いつつ、ぼんやりと話を聞いていたのですが、

On the other hand, the student of commerce was dimly young woman, and told us each part of the story. I was afraid that I had to lose time, and tried to sleep alone.

面談の後半に、上記の娘の3つの質問に全て答えを出していて、それが一つのストーリとして構成されていることに気がつきました。

However, I noticed that her story had included all answers against the above my daughter's questions and she finally completed to make one story.

―― 恐るべき学生達

They were fearful students.

娘も非常に感激していたようで、「この学校に入学したい」と元気いっぱいに答えていました。

My daughter was very moved to hear the stories, and speak loudly "I am going to go this college!"

―― 入れるなら、是非!

"Please go ahead, if you can"

と、私は、心の中でつぶやいていました。

I whispered in my mind.
