I feel like I've been seeing a lot of great things lately.
(1) Change in interpretation of "exclusive defense" for the purpose of domestic defense only after the WW2 (Change: Enabled attacks on enemy bases outside of Japan)
(2) Nuclear power plant operation policy conversion decided after the 2011 meltdown (change: new nuclear power plant construction allowed)
It is a world away from what it would have been like in 1970, when the Capitol would have been surrounded by hundreds of thousands of people demonstrating against the project.

What the government and ruling party have wanted to do for years, but could not, now seems to be passed with a "cabinet decision" easily.
I do not see a movement to overthrow the government at the grassroots level.
And the people think
"I can't help it"
It seems to me that there is a certain resignation. Well, at least I do.
Well, as for the legislative process from now on, although parliamentary debates are a must, we probably won't see any kind of brawl among legislators in the Diet.
It is hard to argue with good arguments and logic when presented with so many theatrical realities: the national security crisis, the energy crisis, the reality of the invasion, and so much more.
For the government and ruling party, they can only thank North Korea, China, and Russia.

I think that Russia's invasion of Ukraine as a security measure is the same paradigm as Japan's establishment of Manchukuo (puppet state) as a security measure around 1930 -- I have not seen any intellectuals discussing it from that perspective.
We may be moving toward the "worst" while picking and choosing the "best" choices we can make now.
What we can do is to stand up against the dramas and movies that portray past wars (Pacific War) as if they were caused solely by a runaway military or a few fanatical militarists.
"Don't keep on fooling yourself with the same scenario. The Pacific War was an "inevitable outcome" guided by the "best" and "hope" of the time"
with "knowledge" to mumble that
I think it is important to be aware that we are also now in the same historical flow, and that we are "parties" to the worst while choosing the best.

So I don't blame anyone. I will not participate in the demonstration. Because even I think that the "Cabinet Decision" is the "best (reasonable) decision at this point in time.
My only wish is that my lifespan will end before I reach the "worst" -- that's all.
