Once I wrote about a person who gave me a big and non-potable Japanese-English dictionary as a "celebration gift".

At the time, I discard the dictionary.

In addition, I have reached a conclusion, that "the person has not had a habit of using English daily".

Same affairs, like this, are often happened.

For example, about souvenirs of overseas trip.

- knocking ball pen, the woman's picture comes to be nude.

- Uneatable spicy (or stick) snacks

- Local and strange amulet

"I want to return this to you"

in many cases.

Of course, we have reasons for these affairs.

(1)We have to buy some souvenirs when we travel overseas, especially getting foy.

(2)However, good souvenirs are expensive.

(3)On the other hand, bad souvenirs are low-quality and no impact, even if it is cheap.

(4)Then, we have to appeal ourselves with "a strange thing".

Thus, "celebration gift" or "souvenir" make us unhappy, and the market has been established.

To tell you the truth, "cash" is useful and universal valuable for anyone.

But we cannot use "cash" by a compensations of "souvenir". If we use "cash" as "celebration gift", constant sum must be needed.

In that sense, "library tickets" or "gift certificates" can be said to be distorted "cash" to resolve this problem for both sides.
