Though I often hear the words "lunch alone" recently, I haven't known that the words is derogatory term.
I had never thought that "lunch alone" has another meaning more than "Eating lunch alone"
As far as I am concerned, time of "lunch alone" is "happiest moment" or "hour of bliss" because of reading book in a relaxed manner. It is like one more dish of lunch.
I think that "lunch with reading" is more accurate than "lunch alone".
As a result, "lunch with reading" become a same meaning of "lunch alone".

The junior daughter takes over my preference at the level of DNA.
She is in the 6th grade of junior school, and read book (including manga-comics) anytime.
She read, read and read books, at both room, toilet and at any places.
"Well, I have been looked at from others." I was taught by her everyday.
I am afraid that "lunch with reading" is absolutely rude manner, especially rude against cook.
my wife gets mad with us naturaly, so I never do "lunch with reading" in happy lunch and dinner time at home.
On the other hand, when both the daughter and I eat out, that seems to be a total turn-off for other people.

The other day, both two had a lunch at the beef bowl chain store, and did "lunch alone" with reading book sedulously.
I felt pain with eyeshot. I thought the message "abuse" was included.
The only words the father gave the daughter in the lunch time were ,
"Press your book with a container of finely-chopped ginger, make your hands free"
After the lunch, I asked her
"How do you like this lunch?"
and she replied me soon.
"Terrific! Delicious! enjoy!! Let us come again!!"

"Please make me(us) decided what my(our) happiness is"
