My wife, she had been buried under office counter work in a bank, and I has been a self-supporting student during college life.

Both of us has been having what we can never afford.

I can agree with her. It should be dangerous.

In order to live the calm life, it is said that we never touch with "politics", "baseball" and "love affaire for others".

I had used "VMware", one of virtual machine(VM) software before more than ten years.

I predicted that "in the near future, we are going to take out not a client but a sever." and it will be realized indeed.

Now I use a VM software, that name is "VirtualBox" presented by Oracle Co.. The software can export and import a guest OS with ease unbelievably.

We can take out a whole OS system including softwares, so we don't have to worry about compatibility of hardware and device driver problems.

According to the outsourcing software development, we are asking not program codes but Guest OS including the codes, absolutely.

Because, we don't care how many Guest OSs are included in a PC server, now.

I think I can use "personal computer" like a fish in the water.

I can easily create sentences and images and draw illustrations while listening to music, as I thought.

However, I am like a fish, on a fishing boat when using a smartphone.

It is likely that nothing I can do but to snatch on the ship uglily.

This difference means that my daily routines (the writing of reports and patent specifications is everyday) and environments that I have to repair my personal computer daily. It has nothing to do with my "effort".

On the other hand, since I can not assume the future where smartphones disappear, I have to go out with a smartphone, even if I am ugly.

I am a fish, and I have been in the water, called "PC", longer compared with the normal person. That's all.

So, I dislike a person who boasts of his ability to nurture the skills developed in the period "in the water".

- A person who who is fluent in languages while staying abroad for a long time, and makes a fool of Japanese who can not use a foreign language well

Before my father's retirement, he was the president of a small woodworking company.

The main job is a major subcontractor that is making furniture for installation in facilities such as business hotels and schools, and installing them.

As his son, when I was 14 years old, I climbed the furniture with an electric screwdriver for installation and screwed wood screws.

There were two types of field personnel at the site.

For these subcontractors like us, they are “humans who command majesticly” and “people who treat them politely”.

I was a teenager at the time,

for the former person, I did "the job that was told"

for the latter person, I did "the job that was more than what I was told"

"Professional professionalism for any human being"

I didn't have tha above professional policy.

And I haven't had it until now.

This is because a person who makes them great is "uncomfortable" for me.

I don't want to give "the job that was more than what I was told" to the person.

In the professional world, it is valuable to be able to create added value that goes beyond money.

But I don't feel the need to give the “value” that I create, to those who take the attitude of looking down on people.

I know well that “people who I don't like at work"are often not "people who I don't like in a world unrelated to work (such as a social relationship)"

However, we must form relationships in a closed world.

I am convinced that the number of people who feel pleasant and unpleasant is almost same.

As far as I can see, it seems that the "person who is doing great" in the organization is getting ahead.

It is reasonable that a person who thinks career advancement as "value" is to "make them great".

And career advancement is generally valuable-such as organizational decision making (power) and monetary value (income).

For me, it's not so much 'drawing is fun' as it is 'being able to use a variety of techniques' with drawing software (I use SAI).

- I just want to cut this part out.

- I'd like to make this character bright a little.

- In this picture, I want to make it a little more black and white.

I like the feeling of being able to do things like that in a snap with draw software.

I may be surprised to find that a wrong operation can produce effects that I never expected.

- It's also interesting to pose myself, take a video, and create an illustration from the captured images.

- It's also fun to take a male character and transform it into a female character.

However, this is just a matter of "technology".

I have never considered my work to be a "work of art".

I am grateful to IT (computers) for making it possible for an engineer like me, who has no artistic talent, to draw illustrations.

Ever since I started illustrating with drawing software, I have had a deep respect for not only art in general, but also for anime and what is often referred to as "moe" art, and its creators.

There seems to be a lot of fuss about "moe characters" these days -- but I don't want to get involved in anything strange, so I'll keep quiet.

However, I often wonder "Is there any respect for the creator there?

Yesterday, in the middle of the World Cup match between Japan and Germany, I received a call from a junior colleague of mine to review my column.

He is a soccer fan, so to speak, so I asked him, 'For What?', I wondered.

I told him, "You won't be able to concentrate on watching the game, so you can review it later," but he said, "In a tense situation like this, I feel more comfortable talking to other people".

Well, sometimes the response to the review did not come back for a minute or so.

I sometimes think that for soccer fans, watching such a sweaty game in their hands must be 'a kind of torture.

However, I believe that the more one understands soccer in detail, the more one can look at the whole game from a bird's eye view and see its strengths as well as its weaknesses, and hence the more frustrating it can be.

I only have to shout out my admiration for an athlete's fine play, so the psychological load is much smaller than for someone who can see the whole picture.

Writing this story reminded me of--

One of my American friends whom I met during my assignment in the U.S. said that when he stayed in Japan for several years, he never thought about learning Japanese perfectly.

He was a capable man, and I wondered, and asked him why, and he said

"To maintain peace of mind while in Japan by not understanding Japanese"

Well, I was impressed with that way of thinking.

When I came down to the living room at the end of the Japan-Germany game, my wife was crying in front of the TV.

I was happy to see my wife happy.

Recently, a team led by Dr.Shibata and myself summarized the three years of columns on the new coronavirus.
