「今朝、私も、目の前で線路に飛び込む人を見たんですよ」

その日も、朝からの人身事故の影響で、電車が遅延してたため、私は打ち合わせの部屋に駆け込んできたのですが、
The trains were delayed by an accident resulting in injury or death at the day too , so I had to rush in the meeting room.
冒頭、一人の出席者の方からその話を聞いた時には、部屋中の人間が驚きの声を上げました。
To begin with, all people in the room screamed with surprise, when hearing his story.
(人によっては、何度もこういう場面立ち合う人もいるようですが、私はこれまで一度もありません)

「そ、それで・・・」
"A...and?"
「ええ、その人の落ちたところの寸前で、電車が止ったので、その人の命は助かったようです」

「その後、その人はどうなったんですか？」

「立ち上がると、そのままスタスタと歩きだして、その場から立ち去りました」

これは、私の想像の遥か斜め上をいく、現場レポートでした。
The story was beyond the reach of my imagination.

とかいうのなら、私の想定の範囲内です。
were expected circumstances of mine.
しかし、「黙って立ち去った」という状況から、私が推論した結果は、
But according to the situation of "getting away from the point silently", I guessed that
―― この野郎、この場に至って『体裁』なんぞを気にしやがった
"This guy was concerned about appearances against even this mess situation"
と、私には読めたのです。
もちろん、その現場を見ていないですし、その人は、飛び込んだ瞬間、正気に戻ったのかもしれません。
