昨日、64bit版Windows7でメモリ2GB以上を使うプログラムが稼働できる環境ができることが分って、嬉しくて、朝から気分の良い江端です。

Yesterday, I could finish constructing a programming environment, based on Windows7(64bit version) to execute a program that use more than 2GB memory.

So, I am feeling happier from this morning.

と、書いてみて思うのですが、ほとんどの人にとって、上記のコメントは「呪文」ですよね。

After writing the above phrase, I think it is just spell for everyone.

それが、一体何がどう嬉しいのか、世の中の殆どの人と共有できません。

It is impossible to share the happy feeling with entire world.

江端：「1億件数のデータの解析が、パソコンで可能になるんだよ!」

Ebata:"Possible to process more than 100 million data in my personal computer!"

嫁さん：「で、それができると何が嬉しいの？」

My wife: "So what is good for us?"

多分、これは「オタク」と言われている人でも同じで、その中でも「コレクター」と言われる人には顕著に現われると思うのです。

Maybe, some kinds of person who are called "Otaku" have faced some situation, and especially "collector" should be noticeable.

■同じものをいくつも持っていて、何が楽しいの

"What make you enjoy, when you have more than two same things?"

■これとそれの、どこが違うの

"What is different of the two?"

■それで、これらのものにはどういう価値があるの

"What is the value of these things?"

3つの質問だけで、「コレクター」を簡単に怒らせることができます。

The collector will get angry with only the above three questions.

しかし、質問する側には罪はありません。

I think the questioner is not guilty.

そのような話題を振る方が悪い。

The collector is wrong because he/she talks about the topics.

で、当然、エンジニアは自分の仕事の話を、他の人には言いません。家族にも、です。分って貰えないからです。

Generally speaking, engineers don't tell others about their jobs. Even if family is. They can't understand their jobs.

ですから、先日、娘(長女)の宿題「保護者の仕事のレポート」作成の為のインタビューを受けた時に、

When I was asked about my jobs from my daughter, because of her homework, my wife cried,

―― やっと、あなたの仕事が理解できた!

"Eventually I could understand what you have done"

と、長年連れ添ってきた嫁さんが、驚きの声を上げる、という事態が起こる訳です。

That is the reason for this funny story.
